Last weekend I went to Tapalpa, a small town located in the south of Jalisco, México. It´s name means Land of color and it´s really a colorful place. We stayed in a hotel called La Casona and we were welcomed by its lovely owners Joaquin and Isabel.
We were there because we are making a video about the hotel, Tapalpa and its surrounding, and we had a great experience visiting different places around Tapalpa. We went to a place lost in the mountains called Lagunilla, which is located in front of a small lake with ducks and bushes and where people still use horses as a main mean of transportation.
Also we visited Atacco, another pre-colombian town with two churches (one where the franciscans gave mass in spanish and another where they gave mass in otomi, an old native language).
In the night, after a hard day, we had dinner at the hotel with delicious lasagna, salad with avocado, juices, milk and cookies.
The next day we woke up at 4 am to record the sunrise. It was beautiful but cold. But three hours after it was hot, dusty and the sun burned our faces.
After that, we visited Salto del Nogal, one of the longest falls of the country. We had to go down around 110 meters to see it, and of course the worst was the way up.. but the view was worth the fatigue.
After this long day, we went again to the hotel and have a delicious dinner and went to bed with the bonfire burning at our feet.
